The part of livestock and pets in wolf diet in Lithuania

Since wolves cause substantial damage to livestock, farmers demand that the wolf population be reduced. Environmental non-governmental organisations are opposed this idea, therefore social tensions in society rising. The patterns of done livestock were investigated by using data registered Biological Diversity Database (BDD) State Service for Protected Areas under Ministry Environment period from 1 January 2019 December 2021. Wolf diet was analysed examining stomach content hunted and collected scats (n = 132). During period, 1139 cases attacking submitted BDD. Twenty-eight dogs BDD A total 1167 animals killed 2019; 1279 2020, 875 2021 (before December). three years analysed, most frequently attacked sheep (60.1–67.4% annually). In accordance with gathered analyses contents wolves’ scats, remains domestic animal found 6.82% all samples.
